Prosecutor: No sign Dr. Aafia tortured, abducted 5 yrs ago
NEW YORK: The U.S. government has not found a “shred of evidence” that a Pakistani woman accused of trying to kill a U.S. soldier and FBI agents Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was abducted or tortured in the five years before her arrest, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David Raskin said U.S. agencies had searched for evidence to support reports that Aafia Siddiqui was detained in 2003 and held for years, but found none.
He said it was more likely that Siddiqui disappeared in 2003 because she went into hiding after marrying an al-Qaida operative who helped facilitate the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and because she knew 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

Received the following information from Asma Bajwa, an insider working for Dr. Aafia’s release. Please note two pieces of new information: A new initiative has been formed, kind of like a legal fund it seems, to release Muslims who have been detained unjustly. This is good news. Secondly, Dr. Aafia’s case, will have an official site www.freedraafia.com that is still not live yet.
And finally a way to support Dr. Aafia. The account has been set up by her family.

LAHORE: Scores of the Punjab University students staged protest against illegal detention of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and in support of her release. After Jumma prayers,the protest rally, led by Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba’s Punjab University Nazim Sohaib Amir Siddique, commenced in front of the university’s jamia mosque and marched towards the campus arena. Students from different departments of the Punjab University gathered to express solidarity with Dr Aafia.
