Teenage girl not Aafia Siddiqui’s daughter

KARACHI: Dr Fauzia Siddiqui has confirmed that the teenage girl, brought by unidentified men to her home is not Mariam, the missing 11-year-old daughter of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, the Pakistani national scientist detained in US prison.

According to private TV channel, the sister of detained Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui confirmed that the teenage was not daughter of her sister as the Federal Interior Minister had reported that the finger prints of teenage girl were not matched with the prints of her niece, Mariam. The teenage girl aged between five to six speaks only English and has been shifted to Darul-Aman.

Earlier some unidentified persons left a teenage girl, outside the residence of Fauzia Siddiqui on Sunday. The girl was holding a card around his neck, bearing the name of Aafia Siddiqui and residence’s address.

“The minister told me that result of the test were negative and did not match with the data of Mariam and Mohammad Ahmed,” Fauzia told reporters.

Ahmed, the 12-year-old son of Aafia was recovered in 2008. He now lives with his aunt Fauzia in Karachi, who has prohibited him from talking to the press.

On Sunday a team of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) arrived at the residence of Fauzia Siddiqui and got fingerprints of the teenage girl, who speaks English fluently, to ascertain her relation with Aafia Siddiqui.

Talking to newsmen she said the NADRA and police team had carried out screening of the girl but they have returned back to Islamabad leaving her in the dark.

“The team conducted its investigation and got fingerprints but left for Islamabad without telling me anything, so I have no news on that,” she said.

“I will myself inform the media on Monday(today) if something came in my knowledge,” Fauzia added. She said it was doubtful that the girl might be the missing daughter of Aafia. Expressing her disappointment, she said “I have been cheated by govt officials many times, therefore can’t believe such steps.”

It was being claimed that the girl was the missing daughter of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi who had been disappeared from Karachi in Buy doxycycline online March 2003 with her three children. The U.S. detained her secretly at Bagram Air Base of Afghanistan and later shifted to US.

Aafia was convicted in New York City of assault with a weapon, and attempting to kill U.S. soldiers and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents who were seeking to interrogate her.

Where she had allegedly been raped, and tortured for five years.
