PTI women protest Aafia’s conviction

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Women Wing (WW) staged a protest demonstration here on Saturday against the conviction of Pakistani citizen Dr Aafia Siddique by the US jury.

A large number of women activists of the party led by PTI WW President Fauzia Kasuri assembled in front of the National Press Club (NPC). They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with condemnations of the decision. The protestors demanded unconditional release of Aafia.

Addressing the participants, Kasuri termed the verdict unjust and violation of human rights. She said the decision was prejudiced and an attempt to cover up the US agencies’ act of abducting Aafia. “We are not shocked over the decision as it was expected. Nevertheless, it has exposed the so-called champions of human rights and front-runners in the war on terrorism,” she observed.
