LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan demanded the government take concrete efforts for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who was recently indicted in the United States on terrorism charges.
He was addressing, ‘Hope of Pakistan and Role of Leadership’, a seminar organised by the Insaaf Students’ Federation (ISF) at the College of Accountancy and Finance on Saturday.
He criticised the government’s lax attitude towards Dr Aafia’s case and blamed the rulers for being slaves to the ‘dollar government’. He also criticised the government for its silence on the issue of US drone attacks.
The PTI chairman alleged that the Blackwater and other foreign elements were involved in the recent multiple bombings in Karachi. Imran said the West wanted to sow disturbance and disharmony in Pakistan through such terror activities and urged the people of Pakistan to stay united.
Rising electricity prices: According to a press release issued on Saturday, Imran also attended a meeting of a local organisation. During his address, he warned the nation about the impending rise in electricity prices soon.
