Dr Aafia Siddiqui – The Prisoner 650

NEW YORK: A US federal judge has determined that Dr Aafia Siddiqui, the Pakistani neuroscientist, would not be linked with the fundamentalist Al Qaeda outfit during her trial scheduled to begin on Jan 19.

The prosecution had informed the court on Monday that it would not contest any ruling which absolved her of any terrorist links.

However, Judge Richard Berman ruled on Wednesday that any handwritten material seized from her possession would be admitted as evidence. But the printed material in her possession would not be admitted as evidence.

In a mixed bag of ruling, Judge Berman ruled that forensic evidence from fingerprint experts would be admitted.
