IHC directs govt for efforts on Dr Aafia case
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court directed the government to take up effectively the case of Pakistani scientist Dr Aafia detained in US custody.
IHC Justice Raja Saeed Akram passed the verdict on the petition for the early recovery of Aafia.
The court said in its verdict that Pakistan embassy in Holland is reviewing to take the Aafia’s case to the World Court of Justice and the government of Pakistan is making serious efforts on this issue, adding these efforts should continue until the homecoming of Dr Aafia.
The court decision expected that Aafia’s case will be started in the current month after the psychologist and physician give their report regarding her health.
Islamabad High Court has directed the government to pursue the case of Dr Aafia Siddiqui in United States. The court directed the government on Wednesday to pursue the case of Siddiqui to bring her back to home. IHC had reserved verdict over the petition on Tuesday.
