Dr Aafia Siddiqui – The Prisoner 650

KARACHI: A division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC), comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Faisal Arab, expressed extreme displeasure over the government’s failure to submit comments or show any development in Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s repatriation case.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by the Human Rights Network, seeking the safe return of Dr Aafia.

The bench noted that despite the passage of considerable time, the federal government and respondent ministries have failed to submit comments in the petition and since the matter pertains to the liberty of a Pakistani woman in foreign custody, such delays cannot be tolerated.
