‘Speedy development in northern areas to win war against terrorism’
MULTAN, Oct 25 (APP): Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Saturday that development process in Northern Areas needed to be accelerated to improve socio-economic conditions of the people there to win the war against terrorism.
While talking to a group of journalists after attending a private function in Rajapur village in the suburbs of Multan this evening, the FM said that there is a need to win hearts and minds of the people by improving their socio-economic conditions.
He said that European countries and Nato understand Pakistan’s point of view on the war against terrorism.
He said that stoppage of 55000 cusec Chenab waters by India was a violation of Indus Water Treaty and it has caused damage to our crops. He, however, added that government will get this issue resolved through diplomatic channels.
To a question, he said that government was making all out efforts to help out Dr. Aafia Siddiqui adding that her son has already been brought back home.
